Dorothy
Once a bustling prairie settlement, Dorothy is now one of Alberta’s most quietly captivating near-ghost towns. Located just east of Drumheller, this tiny hamlet invites visitors to slow down, wander, and soak in the stories etched into its buildings and wide-open skies.
Dorothy is closely connected to celebrated Canadian author W.O. Mitchell, who grew up in the hamlet and drew inspiration from the surrounding prairie landscape for his writing. Today, the hamlet remains a favourite stop for photographers, history lovers, and anyone drawn to places where time seems to stand still.
