Rosebud Centennial Museum

Take a half-hour drive and lose yourself in the cosy charm of Rosebud Valley. Discover the roots of the Rosebud story through High Eagle, a Blackfoot cowboy who befriended settlers like the Wishart family from the Red River settlement—who left behind Métis troubles to find refuge in this beautiful valley.

Explore the settler sitting room and kitchen, as well as the ranch room, where you’ll find trophies from the Calgary Stampede. Be entertained by stories of legendary figures like Dick Cosgrave and Rosebud’s own Jack Morton.

Marvel at Mary Job’s collection of more than 1,000 pairs of salt and pepper shakers, and enjoy the watercolours and prints by W. Ray Salt, which inspired the first Birds of Alberta. As you move through the space, you’ll also spot exquisite black-and-white photographs from Harry Palmer’s Rosebud collection.

In the lobby, you can enjoy a game of crib or crokinole, or relax with a puzzle. Ask for the “I Spy” activity to keep the little ones engaged. Snacks, ice cream treats, and unique gift items are available. The space is fully wheelchair accessible.

Before you leave, be sure to pick up a copy of the Historical Walking Tour Guide, featuring 15 stops that will help you discover even more of the hamlet’s rich history.
