Drumheller Diwali Celebration

Drumheller Diwali Celebration: Diwali is the festival of lights and
celebrates the victory of light over darkness. One could describe it as
a New Year/Harvest celebration. It involves brightly illuminating
buildings and homes and usually lasts about 5 days. On the “climax”
day, people dress in their finest clothes, light their homes and enjoy
feasts with their family and friends. Our first year in Drumheller, we
celebrated Diwali with friends at our home. For many years now, we
held an event at the Legion and over 100 people attended. We
want to make this an annual event to highlight the cultural diversity of
Drumheller. Celebrating events like Diwali helps bring
people together in a way that might prove more accessible and
educational. There’s no better way to connect than with food, lights, singing,
dancing and laughter!
