Stay in a 100-year-old hotel in the heart of a ghost town! The Rosedeer Hotel is located in the ghost town of Wayne: population 27. Built in this once booming coal mining town, The Rosedeer Hotel opened its doors in 1913. Six uniquely styled rooms await your stay, with stories of the past filling up every room. Enjoy a stroll around town, soaking up all the heritage and Badlands views this quaint town has to offer. Then, stop in for a bite to eat, something to drink and an unforgettable atmosphere at the Last Chance Saloon, located right next door to the Rosedeer. 3. Homestead Antique Museum

Continue your historical adventures and visit a piece of Drumheller’s past at the Homestead Antique Museum. Featuring a spectacular collection of over 10,000 antiques and artifacts, you’ll be transported back through history to the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Explore popular exhibits such as a two-headed calf and a house that was entirely purchased out of a 1919 issue of Eaton’s catalogue. Add this museum – open daily from May first to the second Monday in October – to your historical adventures.

4. Atlas Coal Mine’s Unmentionable Tour

Atlas Coal Mine provides a bevy of mining tours – each with their own themes and stories. While each tour is worth partaking, their Unmentionable Tour is particularly ripe with Drumheller folklore – letting you explore the dark side of coal mining. A historical interpreter will guide you through parts of the coal mine as you learn about accidents, brawls, and the unmentionable side of Drumheller Valley history. This tour is recommended for ages 14 plus.
