The Drumheller area offers at least four fishing opportunities within an hour of the town – McLaren Dam Recreational Area, Michichi Recreational site, Crawling Valley Reservoir, and the Red Deer River. Be sure to get your fishing license before heading out and check regulations on what you can keep and which areas are catch and release only. Alberta hosts 2 Family Fishing Weekends each year – February (over the Family Day long weekend) and in July (during the weekend following Canada Day).
