5 Signature Drumheller Experiences
Who doesn’t love bragging about finding something cool on their travels? If you’re looking for some iconic Drumheller experiences, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favourite cool spots and things to check out in and around Drumheller that you can’t find anywhere else!
1. Take in The Badlands
You knew we had to include this one – what’s cooler than checking out the place that dinosaurs once roamed? With its sky-high hoodoos, breathtaking rock formations and prehistoric canyons, there’s no bad spot for a selfie in the Badlands. Hike through dramatic sweeping chasms or take a helicopter tour to get a bird’s eye view; any way you can enjoy the beauty of the Badlands is fine by us.
2. Attend a Show at Rosebud Theatre
This theatre is well worth the drive: it’s one of the best theatre schools in Western Canada and gives plenty of theatrical thrills to over 35,000 people every year. 2018 marked the Rosebud Theatre’s 35th anniversary season. Each show ticket comes with a buffet meal courtesy of the Haskayne Kenney Mercantile. Talk about dinner and a show!
3. Eat a Mammoth Burger at Bernie and the Boys
Mammoth Burgers practically defy description. Their buns are eight inches wide, the patty a whopping 24-ounces of meat. It’s not something for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking for a challenge sure to put you to bed, Bernie and the Boys Bistro fit the bill. This local joint is comfort incarnate, from the grilled cheese sandwiches to the delicious milkshakes and fries.
4. Marvel at The Best Preserved Armoured Dinosaur in the World
We’re not kidding about this – Drumheller is a town full of dinosaur bones, and it is also home to one of the coolest dinosaur finds of the recent past, a plant-eating armoured dinosaur known as a Nodosaur. It’s the oldest known dinosaur mummy found in the province, and you can find it at the Royal Tyrrell Museum. It’s one of the most significant dinosaur finds because a major amount of the dinosaur fossil, including its armour, was found completely intact and unblemished from the force of nature. That’s worthy of a visit, right?

This place is known for 3 things: its food, service and atmosphere. Last Chance Saloon serves as a living time capsule of the Dinosaur Valley’s past, complete with archival photographs plastered all over the walls and plenty of old-timey knickknacks and collectibles hanging about. If you time your visit right, you’ll be able to catch some live music or take in a special event.
